Classical guitarist Alison Smith presents a collection of expressive, lyrical, soulful and evocative music that has been inspired by a poem, title, story or emotion. Many of the works are world premiere recordings, with 9 of them composed or arranged by William Lovelady, whose works for guitar have been performed worldwide, as well as being broadcast on radio and television. This album is the third release of trip trip trip trio and it’s also the result of a collaborative work with Colombian contemporary composers. It includes works created especially for the trio and finished during the last three years by Alejandro Zuluaga, Andrés Samper, Eblis Alvarez, Camilo Giraldo Angel and César Quevedo Barrero.
The trio's name was inspired by a fantastic character from the novel "Opium in the Clouds" by Bogota’s cult writer Rafael Chaparro Madiedo; a talking cat called Pink Tomate, who always says: “triptriptrip what a mess, what a serious mess.”
For this, and for so many other reasons, the number three inspires the intensions and imaginaries of César, Camilo and Guillermo. More >>
Incandescent has two meanings, one being an intense glow, which can generate colours and secondly being full of high emotion and passion. Beethoven described the guitar as “an orchestra at your fingertips” because of the many different colours that can be achieved when playing it. The CD displays the guitar's abundant colours and nuances and is highly expressive. This CD will be sure to delight listeners with it's enchanting mix of well known guitar works and new compositions. A welcome reissue from Neil Smith, one of Britain's finest classical guitarists. He performs guitar music by Niccolo Paganini, Mauro Giuliani, Fernando Sor and Isaac Albeniz. Paganini was the greatest of violin virtuosi but he was also a master guitaristand composer for the guitar. The Grand Sonata has three movements: a bold Allegro Risoluto then an exquisite Romanza and finally a set of variations marked Andantino Variato. In these performances, Neil Smith introduces a number of his own improvisations, a lost feature of the romantic era. Giuliani's Variations Op 107 are taken on a theme by Handel, known generally as The Harmonious Blacksmith. Fernando Sor's Les Adieux is just one of a number of pieces reflecting on losses during his lifetime. Albeniz's Cadiz has the jaunty air of a seaport whereas Torre Bermeja reflects on the images of the great crimson towers of The Alhambra in Granada as multitudes of notes imitate the Moorish decor.
